Join us for a live taping of a Cold Call podcast interview with Professor Tatiana Sandino, Senior Lecturer Jeffrey Rayport, and School of Rock President Stacey Ryan about the case “School of Rock: Tuning into Structured Empowerment”

Hosted by Brian Kenny, HBS Chief Marketing & Communications Officer

School of Rock is a youth-oriented music education company with 440 franchise- and company-owned schools globally. We invite the Harvard community to join our live taping of the Cold Call podcast asHBS faculty authors Tatiana Sandino and Jeffrey Rayport, School of Rock president Stacey Ryan, and host Brian Kenny discuss how company leadership was able to standardize curriculum and processes across its large franchise network. They’ll explore options Ryan’s team considered to drive adoption of the “Method App,” which provided a structure to empower and guide work at the school branches, featuring nearly 100 show programs and 1,000 copyright-compliant song choices tagged with the associated skill levels, musical concepts, and corresponding show programs. All while giving franchisees freedom in certain areas and without reigniting tensions between franchisees and the corporate office. Audience questions will be invited after the interview.
