About this Event
Join us for a thought-provoking discussion with Karthik Ramanna, professor of business and public policy at the University of Oxford’s Blavatnik School of Government, and Dutch Leonard, Eliot I. Snider and Family Professor of Business Administration at Harvard Business School and George F. Baker, Jr. Professor of Public Sector Management at Harvard Kennedy School. They will explore how leaders and their teams can effectively navigate this new era of polarization.
Outrage is pervasive—across the political spectrum—and many companies find themselves in the spotlight. People, in some cases justifiably, are angry with the world, viewing companies as they do governments: targets for their frustration and agents for social change. Managing outrage has evolved from an occasional leadership challenge to a critical leadership skill, akin to strategic thinking or financial acumen.
Drawing from his University of Oxford leadership course and case studies from organizations like IKEA, Nestlé, and the Vatican, Karthik Ramanna will offer practical steps to help leaders address outrage, work with relevant stakeholders, and emerge stronger. His framework provides leaders with the tools to "turn down the temperature," analyze root causes, and develop mission-aligned responses that build resilience.
